Opening Thoughts

I wrote a book.  I self-published the book. And now I intend to build my “platform”. Basically, the exact opposite of what seems to be the norm. You’re supposed to get a blog going, establish your social media presence, and then write and publish your book; all to get yourself out there so you have people who might be interested in reading your book when it’s time to go live.

Well, so much for that.  I published Cow in the Pews and the Atheist’s Too last year on 1/15 and here I am today, 3/13/2016, writing my first post. I’ve procrastinated on setting up this website for quite awhile because I thought sales would just magically happen and I wouldn’t have to spend a bunch of time on marketing which, these days, requires some amount of digital presence.

Another reason I’ve procrastinated for so long is because I’ve asked my self over and over “exactly what do I hope to accomplish”?

I’m a Christian. Nothing more and nothing less.  Let’s just slap that out there right off the bat.  But, I’m not your everyday regular old “christiany” Christian.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that (I only say that because I don’t want to hurt anybody’s Christian sensitivities)….  At the same time though, what I offer in my book is simply a view of the world borne of years of seeking those things which are above.

My book is controversial in that it challenges conventional wisdom and understanding about what it means to be a Christian.  It challenges the denominational structure so prevalent in the world and in my opinion, so divisive.  So, before I really get rollin’ here let me just say this: what I hope to accomplish in writing, publishing, and now blogging about Cow in the Pews and the Atheist’s Too is to find likeminded Christians who are looking for something beyond the typical Christian experience. That’s very broad and at this point, I really don’t know what we’d do if we found each other but, we can figure that out when, and if, the time comes.

So, for now, I’ve finally made my first blog post and can check that off as complete.  Seeing as I’m new to this bloggin’ thing , please be patient as I find my voice in this digital world…
